Having several sandy stretches to its name, the main beach of Calpe is Playa de la Fossa. With a long promenade full of shops, bars and restaurants, you dont have to go far to grab some ice creams for the whole family or enjoy a delicious lunch at a traditional restaurant. The coastal parts of Calpe are dominated by Penyal dIfac, a massive limestone rock that rises out of the sea. A natural park in itself, its home to hundreds of animal species and many rare plants. If youre feeling energetic, hike to the top of the rock and marvel at the stunning views over the town and sea. Altea is approximately 30 km away from the villa and is another coastal town that has managed to retain much of its traditional Spanish charm. The old town is nestled on a hillside, and its cobbled streets are lined with traditional restaurants and shops selling beautiful handmade goods. The famous blue-domed church of the Virgin de Consuelo sits at the top of the old town area and offers fantastic views down over the bay.
