Cala dOr is today a smart and refined resort town; it is located about sixty kilometres east of the airport and Palma city. Formerly, Cala dOr was a traditional, small, Mallorca finishing village which has over the years expanded. The town is nestled alongside a series of coves, the largest of which is called Cala Llonga, which has been developed into a large marina which splits the city into two. The town centre offers a pretty and vibrant pedestrianised shopping zone, with a good selection of eateries and bars. The beach at Cala Gran is the largest in town; sun loungers, parasols and pedaloes can be hired at the beach.
