It is easy to explore the whole island staying at the villa as it is centrally located, within short distance from the sea, the motorway and the ancient town of Rethymno. The trip from both Heraklion and Chania international airports to the villa takes approximately one hour. THE AREA The villa is the perfect spot for an idyllic and relaxing break at the heart of real Crete. It is located close to the coast, in the outskirts of an old traditional Cretan village surrounded by olive groves. The villa is not far from the motorway, with easy access to the whole island and the many attractions around the area. The nearest sandy beach is within five-minute drive to the villa. The neigbouring old traditional village has excellent traditional tavernas and shops walking distance to the villa. There you can sit outside and enjoy a cup of Greek coffee with the friendly locals in one of the little kafenions or taste a real Cretan moussaka in one of the tavernas in the evening. GETTING AROUND The villa is located within a 5 mins drive to the beach. Shops and tavernas are within walking distance and could be found in the neighbouring village. The old Venetian town of Rethymno with its numerous restaurants, bars, banks and shops is within 20 mins drive. BEACHES The nearest sandy beach is within 5 mins drive to the villa. Other nearby beaches, suitable for diving and snorkeling, are located within 15 mins drive. The magnificent sandy beach of Rethymno, about 10 miles in length, is within 30 mins drive from the villa.
