Here’s some more info on the area: • The Costa da Caparica coastline is a beautiful ocean beach just a 15-min drive (or bus) away from Lisbon • It spreads through over 20 km along the coast • You can walk there from my apartment, which is located just a 5 or 10-min walk from the main beaches of the Costa da Caparica city centre • You could also potentially walk to other beaches further to the north or south, but it’s best you rent a bike for that occasion. Besides Lisbon and all the major sightseeing spots, from my apartment you can easily explore the south side of Greater Lisbon, especially if youre driving. Here are a few suggestions (and distances from the apartment between brackets): • Trafaria (4 km) – A quirky little fishermen village, with AMAZING food and a super scenic view to Lisbon • Cacilhas (10 km) – “A picturesque neighbourhood of Lisbon in the banks of the river, best known for its Cervejarias (traditional beer houses), also offering shellfish, seafood, and fresh fish" • Fonte da Telha (10 km) – A long sandy beach from the Costa da Caparica area, this one very local rather than touristy (and with cute beach bars!) • Seixal (20 km) – A small town with an incredible riverfront, and a couple of modern industrial-type restaurants serving world food next door to quirky traditional places • Lagoa de Albufeira (34 km) – A unique beach in Portugal because it faces the Atlantic Ocean on one side and three lagoons on the other (and is part of a National Ecological Reserve) • Sesimbra (35 km) – "One of the finest resort towns of Portugal, (...) famed for its freshly cooked seafood and pristine coastline" • Arrábida (35 km) – "Located next to the sea, between Setúbal and the fishing town of Sesimbra, Arrábida Natural Park has incomparable natural beauty, where the blue of the sea alternates with the white tones of the chalk cliffs and the depths of the green vegetation that covers the mountain range" • Palmela (40 km) – A historical town, surrounded by mountains, with a castle and a legacy of great estate and heritage • Tróia (50 km) – “Seemingly endless coastline of sandy beaches, and still offers pristine beauty despite the recent growth of hotels and resort areas".
