And with a lovely promenade and black sandy beach, there is more than enough to keep the whole family amused. Its proximity to many breath-taking hiking opportunities is also a great draw for this stunning area of Madeira. If its a golden sandy beach you desire, then head to Machico on the south east coast, where the sand has been imported from Morocco and you can enjoy fantastic swimming and sunbathing opportunities.
