Delicious summer alfresco dinners can be taken at the outside dining table using the villas barbecue. The downstairs apartment is gorgeous, mostly in white with attractive stone walls and pillars. The open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is very spacious. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a single bed and another twin bedroom. The en-suite bathrooms are modern and spacious. It has a sleepy feel, even in the larger coastal towns like Bol. The charming Selca is very pretty. One of the most valuable monuments in Selca, made of Bracs white stone by Croatias most famous sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, is ‘The Heart of Jesus statue inside the Church of Christ the King. Selca is also famous for its ‘buhavica olives – the olive oil is very expensive and also its cheese, wine and honey, and the Croatian favorite lamb. The famous White House in Washington is made from Brac stone. Sumartin, just below Selca has the most amazing clear azure sea. It is great for snorkelling as there are so many fish. There are numerous beautiful beaches and picturesque coves on Brac – Rasotica, Zukovik, Radovnja, Studena, Zvirje and Spilice. There are some lovely restaurants and bars. Even the most demanding gourmands will be impressed with the fresh fish, home-made olive oil, cheese and wine. There is an everyday car ferry to Makarska from Sumartin. The mesmerizing Zlatni Rat beach at Bol that adorns 90% of Croatias tourism posters is a must-visit. The astonishing water teems with windsurfers and kite surfers. There are many boat trips and ferries to the nearby islands including Hvar which is surrounded by a serpentine coastline, backed by lavender fields, olive groves and vineyards.
