Villa Peshtemal is a bright and modern four-bedroom villa situated in the lovely Kiziltas area of Kalkan, at the top of the Kalkan Bay. Kiziltas is set in the foothills of the majestic Taurus Mountains and surrounded by idyllic countryside. Kiziltas is more secluded than the Kalkan Old Town, yet it is only a few minutes away by taxi or a 20-minute walk away. Kalkan has an exquisite harbour, full of Turkish gulets and small fishing craft, bordered with waterfront restaurants and the beach. It is a thriving but still unspoilt resort with the bustling historic Old Town being the heart of the town. After dusk, its narrow, cobbled streets, full of ancient houses, delicious restaurants, trendy boutiques and local craft shops with overhanging flower-filled balconies teem with visitors. The tantalising aromas of Kalkans renowned cuisine entice people down to the harbour and the surrounding streets. Villa Peshtemal is very comfortable with squishy sofas and beds. It is so bright and cheerful. Full-length doors and windows illuminate the rooms and make you feel so happy to be on holiday. The living, dining and kitchen area is open-plan and open to the fabulous terrace. There are partial sea views from the living room and excellent sea views from the pool and terrace. The outside area is so welcoming with covered alfresco dining and plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas around the lovely pool. There is a gas barbecue to prepare some wonderful summer dinners. The kitchen is newly renovated and has everything you would desire for a self-catering holiday. Also downstairs is a fabulously comfortable double bedroom with pool views and a separate shower and toilet. As you reach the first-floor landing, you will find another relaxation area with sofas. It is a great place if you want to read or listen to music. The large twin bedroom has a pristine, modern ensuite shower room and opens to a spacious balcony with fantastic views of Kalkan and the azure blue Mediterranean sea. It is even more spectacular at dusk! The master double bedroom also has a dazzling ensuite bathroom and a private balcony with gorgeous views. It is so lovely to meander around the narrow lanes full of whitewashed houses and stunning rays of colour from the bougainvillaea filled courtyards. The Greek Orthodox Church by Kalkans harbour has been converted into a mosque and is the best example of Greek architecture in Kalkan. From the harbour, many of the upscale beach clubs dotted around the bay can be accessed by colourful boats that transfer guests. The fabulous traditional gulets offer boat trips to the beaches, islands and inlets. You can also take fishing and diving trips. The quality of cuisine in Kalkan is exceptionally high. You will find slick and modern restaurants as well as traditional ones. If you have not experienced real Turkish cooking, then you are in for a treat. Many of the restaurants have spectacular roof terraces with incredible views over the bay, which adds to the warm and welcoming ambience. If you want a change from the restaurants of Kalkan, you can go higher into the mountains for the freshest fish ever at the charming village of Islamlar. Springs diverted from the mountains into the village of Islamlar have led to a thriving trout farming industry. The views from the restaurant terraces are breathtaking, and the fish so delicious. The upmarket beach clubs scattered around the coast are perfect for lazy days. You can order cocktails, lunch by your lounger and take frequent dips in the dazzling sea. If you want a sandy beach, you can head to the fabulous Patara beach 20 minutes away. It never feels busy. Adventure seekers can kayak along the Xanthos River or visit the splendid Saklikent Gorge. The 18km long and 300m deep gorge was opened as a national park in 1996. You will wade through the chilled water, climb, swim and slide your way through. The fresh mountain water is often up to waist height. There is also an option for river-rafting and dining by the waterside on a delicious fresh fish meal at the end of your adventure.
