The area itself is called Binibeca Vell, which was tastefully restored in 1972 thanks to its popularity with domestic and international tourists. Binibeca has a backdrop of sand dunes and overlooks a little uninhabited island called Illa de lAire, home to a 19th-century lighthouse. The village is made up of a warren of winding streets and lovely limestone houses. Menorca as an island, has a more leisurely feel and a slower pace than some of the other Balearic Islands. However, those in search of adventure will not be disappointed. There are several water parks, a lovely harbour and many opportunities to observe local wildlife. Menorca is encircled by 216km of coastline and there is a dazzling array of calas or coves nearby. Around Binibeca beach, there are the coves of Biniancolla, Binisafuller, Biniparratx and Binidali to explore.
