The pretty streets of Old Town Dubrovnik are enchanting. At the heart of the city is the Rectors Palace. Standing high above the city, this impressive, triangular edifice sits 37 metres above the sea and offers stunning views. The island of Lokrum, just 600 metres off the coast, is a beautiful, thickly wooded and uninhabited island. To get there, taxi boats run regularly from Dubrovnik Old Harbour. Explore the island at your leisure, watching out for the numerous resident peacocks and take a stroll around the botanical garden. Walk up to the old fort, which offers superb views across to Dubrovnik, before enjoying a drink in the cafe or a swim in the crystal clear waters around the island.
