This beach is just one of dozens which can be easily accessed from the villa including small pebbled coves, beaches offering water sports and rugged natural beaches with limestone cliffs. When you need to buy some ingredients to cook up an Italian feast or if you would rather eat out, there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. The eateries and small shops along the seafront are within walking distance of the villa and the larger town of Monopoli is located a mere 6km away. Monopoli is a pretty medieval town filled with historic monuments and buildings alongside modern shops and restaurants and is great to have nearby. Many of the eateries are on the seafront and offer amazing views. This area is renowned for its seafood, especially the squid, so this could be a good place to try it! The town of Monopoli can be reached by car in just ten minutes, and this town has a wider range of shops and places to eat as well as a pretty harbour filled with fishing boats and local cultural attractions. This charming seaside town has an walled old town and a more modern area, the older area is often quieter and is a lovely place to go for a stroll. There are many historic churches and buildings in this town, a great place to start is a visit to the 12th-century cathedral. The largest settlement in Puglia is Lecce which is around an hour from the villa by car. This stunning city can be enjoyed by wandering the winding streets, booking on to a guided tour could give you a better insight into the town. Lecce has a good selection of museums and galleries if you wish to get out of the heat for a while and take in some local culture; these include the Museo Ebraico which is the Jewish museum and the gorgeous 15th -century Monastery of Santa Chiara which is now a museum and gallery. The town even has a Roman Amphitheatre which has been restored.
