With 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a sought-after enclosed patio area, The Railway Retreat has it all. Just a short 10-minute walk to the centre of Whitby, you’ll be ideally placed for exploring the seaside town. The Space: Spread across 3 floors, The Railway Retreat has ample space. On the ground floor, you’ll find an open plan living and dining area. With two comfy, leather sofas and a flat screen TV with Freeview, this is the perfect place to relax after a full day of exploring Whitby. The dining table is located near the patio doors so you can enjoy views of the boats nearby as you tuck into your meals. In the summer months, open the patio doors to let the warm air drift in. Outside you’ll find a fully enclosed patio area with outdoor furniture. Ideal for relaxing, you can start your day with a morning coffee or wind down on an evening with a glass of something fizzy. As the harbour is so close, you’ll be able to see the boats in the water. Back inside, you’ll find a kitchen and second dining area. With cream cabinets and light wood worktops, there is a traditional yet stylish feel to the kitchen. You’ll be able to make the most of your self-catering stay in Whitby as the house is fully equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and washing machine. There is also a breakfast bar with tall stools which are great for socialising whilst cooking and also enjoying a quiet bite to eat. You’ll also find a WC on the ground floor. Head up the stairs to the first floor and there are 3 bedrooms and a family bathroom. The first bedroom is a tranquil space featuring light green walls and white wooden furniture. With a comfortable double bed and premium bedding, you’ll enjoy your nights sleep at The Railway Retreat. The second bedroom has solid wood twin beds. Decorated with shell and bird ornaments, there is a noticeable seaside theme in this space. Your eyes will be drawn to the beautiful painting of a boat on the shoreline which hangs on the main wall. Perfect for children or teenagers, the third bedroom features bunk beds. With a neutral colour scheme and light wood furniture, this space is calming and cosy. There is ample storage in the form of a tall open cabinet with drawers and there is a built in bench for sitting. The family bathroom is a clean and bright space. It has a bath with an overhead shower, WC and basin. The room is decorated with cute accessories such as shells and plants, and the blind features drawings of sailboats. Upstairs on the second floor, you’ll find the final bedroom. Boasting an en suite and king size bed, this space has been beautifully transformed. With sloped ceilings and velux windows with views of the harbour, you’ll soon feel relaxed in this room. Pops of colour are added through the turquoise and green soft furnishings which compliment the otherwise neutral look. The en suite boasts a walk in shower, WC and basin. Guest Access: Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date. There is free parking on the premises for one car, and possible two cars if both smaller vehicles. Additional parking can be found nearby, and full details will be sent to you before check in. The Neighborhood: The Railway Retreat is located near the harbour in Whitby and you’ll find restaurants, shops and pubs less than a 10-minute walk away. The house is located on the West side of Whitby. You’ll be able to revel in the nostalgic seaside charm - head to the arcades or explore the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. Venture over the swing bridge and you’ll reach the East bank. This side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks. Getting Around: You’ll find restaurants, pubs and shops just in a short walk from The Railway Retreat. Whitby train station is nearby so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station. There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
