Climb the stone staircase up to the entrance porch and you’ll enter into the beautifully renovated apartment. The open plan living, dining and kitchen space is bright and airy. With a high vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, there is an atmospheric feel and light in abundance. There is a neutral colour palette of pale sage green walls and a crisp white ceiling to create a calming and welcoming feel. Traditional in style, the kitchen features white wooden cabinets and granite worktops as well as a Belfast sink and chrome accessories. Fully equipped for all self-catering stays, the kitchen includes a ceramic hob, double electric oven, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. There is also a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer so you’ll have everything you could possibly need for your break in Northumberland. A key feature of the open plan kitchen and dining area is the black range fireplace. Striking in appearance, this original feature has been perfectly complemented with mismatched ornaments and vases to match the aesthetic of the whole room. Above the fireplace is a flat screen TV with Freeview so you can watch your favourite shows during your stay. The dining area includes a wooden dining table and traditional chairs. Ideal for relaxing on a morning with a cup of tea, there is a also delightful window seat by the tall sash window. At the other end of the room is the living area. The Neighborhood: Pope Lodge at Hallsteads is located in the centre of the quaint coastal village of Alnmouth. Just four miles from Alnwick, this part of Northumberland is truly beautiful. Perfect for those who love the outdoors, this stunning village has everything you need for a coastal getaway. Near Pope Lodge you’ll find a great selection of local pubs, shops and restaurants so you’ll have plenty of places to explore. There are a number of incredible castles in the area. From Warkworth to Bamburgh, to Dunstanburgh and Lindisfarne on the Holy Island, you’ll have plenty of rich history to discover. If you’re a fan of golfing, you can visit the oldest 9 hole link course in England at Alnmouth Links golf course or head to Foxton golf course which is just a five minute drive to the North. Alnmouth is close to the charming medieval market town of Alnwick. With cobbled streets lined with independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, the town has charisma and personality in abundance. Alnwick also has some of the country’s top attractions including Alnwick Castle, which was the location for the famous Harry Potter film franchise. Head to The Alnwick Garden to find 12 acres of magnificent gardens and the world’s largest treehouse restaurant. Getting Around: Alnmouth train station is a short 5 minute drive from Pope Lodge so local towns in Northumberland can easily be reached via rail. Located on the main East coast line, express trains stop at Alnmouth train station throughout the day so you can get a direct train to London in just 3 and a half hours. Edinburgh is just one hour away, Berwick upon Tweed and Newcastle just half an hour. Pope Lodge is located just a mile from the station so you can hop in a taxi easily. The apartment is also within 10 minutes’ drive time of Alnwick and 30 minutes’ drive time to Bamburgh. There are a number of bus stops throughout Alnmouth. Hop on the 418 which takes you through to Belford with stops in beautiful areas of Northumberland like Craster, Beadnell and Bamburgh. The X18 route travels between Newcastle and Berwick upon Tweed with stops in Morpeth, Amble and Seahorses.
