There is a large taverna in the square, with several Cafeions and a Mini Market where you can buy local produce .Several “greek “ nights are held in the square over the summer months. There is also a hand made glass workshop, for those unusual gifts,and a “Green Taverna “ to eat and enjoy. Kokkino Chorio was the setting for Zorba the Greek, the classic 1964 film (starring Anthony Quinn, Alan Bates, Irene Papas and many locals,some who still live in and around the village.there are still many small lanes in and around the village to explore and the whole area ideal for walking and enjoying the Cretan country side.
