Ive traveled 80 countries looking for the paradise on earth. We live now in Central American Belize steps away from the beach at the Caribbean sea and are surprised about the relatively few visitors or winter residents we see, although it is by far the safest place of the Central-American subcontinent. Throughout the year the temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) with mostly a refreshing breeze. And in contrast with most islands in the Caribbean you have here a fantastic ecological offer of adventure and things to visit to interrupt your sun bathing. You can dive or snorkel on the largest coral reef of the northern hemisphere, sail and fish, climb archaeological Maya sites, walk or zip the jungle, canoe in wild rivers and look for jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, boas constrictor, toucans, hummingbirds, etc. 60% of the land is protected nature. To hold it this way the country needs many visitors so that the population can live from tourism and has not to tap the nature reserve for living, which happens so often in central American countries. In contrast with many countries in the region, this is also a real English inspired democracy which should incite you to support them The Placencia peninsula is fast becoming the "Key West" of the western Caribbean for holidays en residence, and this old fishing village is the home of numerous resorts, hotels and guesthouses and an impressive number of ocean going catamarans that are available for charter. The peninsula also has the largest beach on Belize mainland and is strategically located for land and sea tours. The local cabanas along the famous sidewalk create a colorful patchwork of shops and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance in the village: a yoga centre, massages, internet cafés, grocery stores, ice cream and coffee shops. Live entertainment and karaoke make a festive night life. There is also a disco and bowling north of the air strip.
