Sleeps 5, Double room and family room (3 single beds).Both bedrooms have ensuite shower with toilet & hand basin. The Lounge/dining & kitchen area is open plan with original A frames visible,with high cealings a large window to the front & 3 high level windows to the back giving plenty of light to give a spacious feeling. There are two large sofas and the dining table is extendable to adapt to your requirements.There is also a 42 inch smart TV and unlimited fibre optic broadband. The Kitchen is finished to a very high standard & includes everything you will need for your stay & includes fridge/freezer,dishwasher,washer/dryer,electric hob & oven. The barn is centrally heated by state of the art electric radiators (not storage radiators) & look just the same as conventional radiators. The price includes heating/electric, bed linen and towels.We also have a cot & high chair available on request. There is ample parking outside the barn with entrance gates & fully fenced off area with flat parking & sloping grass area.Garden table & chairs are also supplied. Mobile phone signals are not great but we do have fibre optic broadband to connect you to the outside world. The Location The cottage is situated in Abbey Cwm Hir (abbey in the long valley), a picturesque village tucked away in the Radnorshire hills with character and history, including the ruins of a Cistercian abbey where it is beleived the headless body of Prince Llewellyn (the last native Prince of Wales) is buried.The cistercian monks founded the abbey in 1143 and always liked to build in secluded places thus the village sits hidden away from the "outside world" nestling amongst the tree covered hills. Glyndwrs way national trail and national cycle route 25 pass through the village making it a perfect base for walking/cycling and exploring mid wales and seeing nature at its best.The market town of Rhayader and the Elan Valley is 6.5 miles and the spa town of Llandrindod Wells is 9 miles. The coast is 40 miles. The Local area is a perfect destination for anyone seeking all year round activities, whether its a gentle amble or energising mountain biking across the rugged hills, the spectacular countryside provides an inspiring backdrop for it all. The surrounding area The nearby 70 square mile estate of the flooded Elan Valley is spectacularly beautiful and is home to some of Britains most rare wildlife and plants along with magnificent engineering to create a fantastic experience whatever your choice of activity. Scenic hills and valleys that are criss-crossed with footpaths, make it ideal for walkers who appreciate the unspoilt beauty of the magnificent mountain scenery, natural history and calming peace of the countryside. Hundreds of miles of bridleways and quiet lanes, makes this the ideal base for cyclists of all ages and abilities to explore the area. Cycle hire is available and allows you to explore the spectacular views including the 13km (8mile) Elan Trail which runs through scenic countryside around the Elan Valley reservoirs. It is a safe and dedicated trail for all visitors, from walkers, cyclists to wheelchair users and children. Hanging oak forests, rocky outcrops and unpolluted farmland make this the best place in the country to watch rarities such as red kites, peregrines, pied flycatchers and redstarts. The surrounding countryside is home to the famous Red Kite and daily feeding can be seen at the UKs leading Red Kite Centre, Gigrin Farm just six miles away. Over 150 kites gather for the daily afternoon feeding sessions at Gigrin Kite Centre, not to mention scores of buzzards and ravens. Amongst the other activities nearby why not visit the local Leisure Centre which is fully equipped with a gym, squash courts, pool and solarium. For many years Welsh Royal Crystal has drawn in crowds from far and wide . Along with its on site showroom you can observe the skills of glass blowing by the nearby Elan Glass Studio. Fifteen minutes away is Gilfach Nature Reserve where you can enjoy a unique wildlife experience set in 200 acres of dramatic countryside with a tumbling upland river, sessile oak woodland, meadows and upland moorland. The reserve provides an opportunity to explore natures rich diversity, from otters to polecats, and discover a lovingly restored Welsh longhouse
