The westmost island of the Azores archipelago, Flores is a scenically stunning unspoilt paradise for walking, birdwatching and simple relaxation. With shops and restaurants, Faja Grande, Europes westmost village, is a great base from which to explore the island as the hiking trail down the west coast passes through it. Car hire is available at the islands airport at the capital, Santa Cruz.
