This stunning development, which was originally a grapefruit orchard, has been sensitively designed to retain many of the old trees. A 15 minute car journey from Paphos Airport makes this a convenient base from which to explore the wonders which Cyprus has to offer. Steeped in history, you are never far away from fascinating monuments such as The Tomb of the Kings or the wonderful Mosaic World Heritage Site. Out & About A great deal of your time would probably be spent on the loungers around the excellent sized pools or in your self contained garden - in the summer the large umbrella shade is essential. Coast/Beach Paphos has several municipal beaches, about 5 to 10 minutes drive away, further afield towards Coral Bay there are also beautiful sandy beaches. A drive to Laatchi for a great seafood meal or to hire a boat is a must and about an hours drive over the mountains. There are lots of places to explore, especially the Akamus peninsula where turtles have been found and protected. Water sports and boat hire are also available. Golf Paphos is famous for its Aphrodite Hills Golf Course and there are several other courses close by. Skiing The Troodos Mountains are a short and extremely pleasant drive away, at any time of year. There is a ski resort there, which is easy to access. Travel Paphos Airport is approximately 15 minutes away and a taxi costs about 15 Cyprus Pounds- in 2008 Cyprus will adopt the Euro as its local currency. Larnaca Airport is now about a one and a half hour drive away on the super new motorway. Let us know if you want help with transfers or car hire. Distances Near Paphos Harbour is the World Heritage site, with the best examples of mosaics - 5 minute drive. The Tombs of the Kings is a little further down the road. The Old town of Paphos is certainly worth a visit, with wonderful panoramic views and inexpensive restaurants - 5-10 minute drive, with municipal parking. At the harbour are the cafes and restaurants. A drive to Coral Bay will take half an hour, we mentioned Laatchi is a must. Polis is an hour over the mountains and well worth a visit. Kato Paphos The apartment is situated in a quiet residental area of Kato Paphos between the old town and the tourist area. The old town which is a 10 minute walk has the markets,shopping and small local tavernas. The tourist area is a 15 minute walk and has an endless number of bars and restaurants beyond which is the harbour and fort. The Tomb of the Kings Road with its restaurants and bars is only 10 minutes away. There are local air-conditioned buses that pass nearby that will take you to the markets, tourist area, Coral Bay and Aphrodites water park at a very cheap price. (CYŁ0.80 one way) Taxis are in abundance,if required, as are hire cars, just dont forget your driving licence. Ancient Roman and Greek sites are plentiful around Paphos these include the Tomb of the Kings, the harbour area and the World Heritage site that houses the famous mosaics. Paphos has two Blueflag sandy beaches and watersports, including paragliding, windsurfing and jetskis are widely available on most beaches in Paphos and the surrounding areas. The best sandy beach can be found at Coral Bay. There is a local diving school and for the younger members of the family, the Aphrodite water park is only a 5 minute drive away, as is the local go-carting track. Boat trips, fishing trips and mini cruises also leave from the harbour daily.
