Peyia Tavern is particularly good. You can get everything in Peyia at local shops or supermarkets, and Peyia even has a local gym which you can use for a small fee ( on the main road down to Coral Bay on the right hand side) Coral Bay approximately is the well known beach resort for the Paphos district and has become a lively resort with plenty to offer in terms of amenities and activities. The center of the resort features a wide selection of restaurants offering both Cypriot and International Cuisines, cafes, bars, shops, a choice of supermarkets, several banks, a chemist and a laundry. Ano Pafos on the cliff is the main administrative center and residential district while Kato Pafos, by the sea, is the main tourist area built around the harbor and medieval port. The main tourist resort are bustling with shops, markets, museums, art galleries, restaurants, nightclubs, the list is endless! However, there are still many smaller villages where life carries on as it has done for decades. Take some time to explore the villages and see traditional handicrafts being made. Here Cypriot life is at a very Cypriot pace, slowly, slowly! The island is at the heart of three continents and has an area of approximately 9,250 square kilometres. The stunning coastline stretches for over 800 km and ranges from rugged and rocky to fine, golden sand shelving gently into the sparkling, crystal-clear Mediterranean sea. Cyprus is steeped in rich history, over 9,000 years old, and has many wonderful archaeological treasures. The occupation by many civilisations, including the Romans, Byzantines and Greeks, have all left a dramatic influence. There are crusader fortresses surrounded by tall cypress trees, Greco-Roman theatres carved into rock faces and Byzantine monasteries perched precariously on mountain tops. Areas of interest include: Byzantine Museum and several other museums Paphos Medieval Fort Ayia Solomoni Church and Theoskepasti Church Tombs of the Kings The Mosaics if Paphos Petra Tou Romiou (Birthplace of Aphrodite) Baths of Aphrodite in Akamas Mountains Ayios Neophytos Monastery and Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery The Paphos District Paphos was once the capital of Cyprus and is full of artefacts, cafes, restaurants, bars and discos. It is now divided into two distinct areas, one area is ideal for those who enjoy shopping, local culture and ancient history and the other for eating and drinking into the early hours. Together with the beautiful beaches, Paphos is a great place for everyone. If music be the food of love then read on, as Paphos is the resort for you. The one time capital of Cyprus, Paphos is full of interesting artefacts, cafes and restaurants, as well as bars, discos and plush hotels. It is now divided into two quarters, each one as interesting and as exciting as the other - Ktima for those who like to shop and embrace local culture and ancient history; and the port of Kato Pafos where you can eat, drink, make new friends and watch the boats come in and out until sunset. A beautiful resort with beaches to match, that is suited to anyone and everyone. Transfer time from Paphos airport is approximately 30 minutes. The number activities that can be enjoyed in and around the Paphos area are endless, from spending time on the beach, to walks along the coast or up in the mountains, bird watching, or looking at the numerous historical sites found all over the Island. There is so much to do in Paphos, these include Sandy Beaches, Waterparks, Fair Grounds, Go Carting, Golf nad Mini Golf, Boat Trips, Safari Trips, Zoos,, WaterSports, The list is endless... Not unsurprisingly on a Island full of resorts, Cyprus has plenty of places where you can enjoy water sports. Theres also at least one diving site in each of the big resorts. Mountain biking and hiking are possible, with specially marked trails, on the Akamas Peninsula and in the Troödos, where also in winter Cyprus only ski resort can be found on the north-eastern face of Mount Olympus.
